[League of Legends] Is 10 Bans Enough?

Riot Games has finally announced that 10 bans will be coming to standard play. Most opinions right now are that this is going to be a good move. Long has the complaint been that League of Legends has too many champions for only six bans. Is 10 enough though? Is this a good move for the game in general?

First, I think that yes, it is a good move. In pro play, we are seeing so many more options, play styles, and different ways to pinch different roles. In casual play, I think this will only help create a bigger sense of being part of a team. Everyone finally has a say in who is banned, so worst case scenario, everyone just bans a champion they don’t want to play against. Great for everyone.

I also appreciate they way that Riot is implementing this 10 ban system. Instead of making the whole process of champion select longer by adding more bans, they let everyone ban at the same time to make it even shorter. The big complaint that is going to come from this is the fact that it is now going to be possible to duplicate bans across teams. Is this going to be a big deal? I don’t think so. Especially when you’re talking about things like solo queue.

One aspect I find really interesting though is that this is just one more way that Riot Games is separating pro play and casual play. I feel like it is hard enough to become a professional League player as it is, the more differences they make between the casual game and how pros play it’s going to be harder and harder to get to that spot. It is also possible that people are slowly going to start losing interest in pro play. Not necessarily from this specific change, but the more the game is changed for pros, the less likely people are to want to watch.

What do you think? Is 10 bans enough? Should it be more or less? Are you mad that the bans can be duplicated? Let me know either in the comments or on social media.
