Weight-Loss Update

Wanted to get a couple thoughts down after having a great weekend. On Friday I found an old picture of myself and put it up against a much more current picture and I really couldn’t believe the difference. The picture of me in the green shirt was taken at the end of October 2016, the navy blue shirt was end of July 2017. Right around 9 months difference.

First thought: Wow, what a difference. I can’t believe the change, this is absolutely insane, I’m so happy and I can’t wait to see what another 9 months will do. This change is one of the biggest weight-loss efforts I’ve ever had.

I’ve seen a lot of these types of progress pictures during my journey and I think they were a major motivator to get where I’m at today. But I think sometimes they can be misleading. Seeing this, you don’t see my journey, you don’t see what I’m doing every single day to make this happen and sometime that can be disheartening for people after trying to loose weight over the first couple weeks. But let me tell you, do not stop, don’t get discouraged.

Let me break this down a little bit. In total, I’m down just over 35 lbs. Over 9 months, that’s almost 4 pounds a month, which equates to just under 1 pound per week. One pound per week.

Let that sink in. 1 pound doesn’t make much of a visual difference. But unfortunately that’s how the body works. That’s how you start to see results like this picture. 1 pound per week, over 36 weeks. Hard work, eating right, paying attention to what I’m putting into my body and how much energy I’m burning for 250 days straight. That’s the type of work you put in for this result.

Don’t let anyone tell you that losing weight or getting into shape is easy. It’s simple but it’s not easy, there is a very important difference there. But the most important aspect of anything in life is consistency. Consistently make good decisions about what you’re eating. Consistently make good decisions about how often you work out and get some exercise. Let your body worry about the rest.

I’m not an personal trainer, nutritionist, or any other type of doctor or expert on this stuff. But you don’t have to be to understand these types of things. Being consistent is an important ingredient to make your life how you want it. If you’re interested in more of exactly what I’ve done or how I’ve done it, feel free to comment or send me a tweet or something. I’d be happy to share and help you out.
